Hiarcs 12 & Rybka for me! It's like having a Super GM at your side, giving suggestion!

Modern Chess is too much concerned with things like Pawn structure.
Forget it, Checkmate ends the game!

any "deep" engines from chessbase, engine running on single processor machines stand no chance against them.

But i like CHessmaster 10K when playing against computer. I dont need to do handicapping since CM already done that with various personalities available in the game.

Rybka is for the serious chess players. I'm not :-) There's a free version of this which can be downloaded thru the Internet. It's version 2.2n2. I'm quite sure that you can find version 3 and up in the Philippines.

I like the Chessmaster series because I find it very user friendly. The GUI is also not bad. I also have Fritz and Junior. However, I don't play againts these programs. What I do is to pit it againts each other and see which is stronger. I am more intrigued by the algorithm they use than testing their strength :-)

Some freewares are also not bad. Arasan 10.4 is good as well as Spike and Fruit.

Twisted Logic Designed by a filipino programmer Edsel Apostol. Lets support our lone filipino chess programmer.. I used his chess program to my youth club members as part of their training..
