Laylo and Paragau have a strong start as they remain unbeaten after 2 rounds. GM Paragua who placed fourth in the blitz version of the tournament would be facing top seed and World Championship candidate Gata Kamsky on round 3 as GM Laylo would try his luck against CHicago Open tormentor Tigran Petrosian. Jan Vincent, Paraguas younger brother tied for 2nd place on the BlitzA category and also remain unscathed in the 1800 category.

GMs Mark Paragua and Darwin Laylo tied for third place among other players with 4 points out of 6 games and finished 12th and 17th overall respectively in the conclusion of Las Vegas International Chess Festival.
IM Enrico Sevillano withdrew after the fourth round with 2 points. It was another successful and satisfactory tournament after their success a month ago at the Chicago Open 2008. Both our players definitely gained points in their USCF and FIDE rating.
We hope too see them again in the World Open 2008 in Philadelphia.
