I can not understand the wisdom of this kind of tournament. Active na, Non master pa my ceiling pang 1950 rating. How can we improve our players with this kind of tournament. Lalo lang nababansot ang ating mga player imbest na lumakas.

The tournament format which is active (around 25 min/player, non-master, 1950 below) caters specifically to a certain market/level in the chess community. Such tournaments primary concerned is this base of chess players. Promotion of the games, a breeding ground for would be chess master, and also a training ground for future officials/arbiter of the game. Even Wesley So used to play on such events, the great Anand when he was still young honed his skills in such tournaments in the Philippines,

if you want a stronger tournament wait for next month as back to back international tournaments of such caliber would be offered by the local federation,

Oh common. What's obvious with this kind of format is MONEY. To attract more players to cover the prizes, payment for ushers, arbiters etc. We see many tournament of this kind everywhere on a regular basis. But OPEN ACTIVE TOURNAMENT OR NON MASTER OPEN ACTIVE TOURNAMENT VERY FEW.

The two upcoming tournament are differnt animal. They are on standard time control and both international tournament. We encourage everyone to join this tournament especially the youth. Hence, no point to compare.

Absolutely, there's no comparison that's why i stated its of different level.

BTW, we do organized such tournaments not primarily to earn MONEY. Last time we organized such abono pa talaga. Tapwe lang registration pero libo premyo and lots of goodies even for non-winners, actually all the participants even get a gift pack from procter and gamble worth more than th prize they paid for the registration. Snacks were even served in the course of the tournament. Pero maganda yung organization nung tournament, wala kaming inaasahan na monetary gain from that pero masaya kasi nastage namin yung tournament ng maayos.

So please dont judge such tournaments as a waste. Marami ring nagagawa o naidudulot na buti yang mga ganyang tournaments.

Hi,

I fully agree with Mr. Batilsky that the tournament is a good training ground for budding players. It's also very hard to organize chess as per my previous experience. It's also even very difficult to find a venue, how much more a sponsor. All kinds of sports have categories even boxing and UFC. You dont enter in a tournament if you want to become a very strong chessplayer. It's instead better to study with a good coach and play against a strong computer/program as what young international GM's are doing now. And the fact that one of the organizers is a doctor who will earn more if he foregoes this tournament and instead practice his profession speaks a million words for the good character of this man and his love for chess and chessplayers. I hope other people who keeps on complaining will do as the proverbial saying "DO IT YOURSELF IF YOU WANT IT DONE CORRECTLY".
