AFTER failing to make it to this year's RP Team bound for 38th World Chess Olympiad in Dresden in November, GM Mark Paragua tries to redeem himself when he compete in the upcoming Fifth Prospero Pichay Sr. Memorial Chess Tournament to be held on August 12 to 15 in Cantilan, Surigao.
Paragua, who topped the Marshall Open in New York finish in a tie for 4th to 6th placers in the Grand Finals of the NCFP qualifying round for RP's representative in Chess Olympiad with fellow GMs Jayson Gonzales and Darwin Laylo but fall short in the tie break points and failed to be a part of Olympic team.
"Gagawin ko ang best na makapag perform ng maganda sa Pichay Sr. Memorial Open Chess sa Surigao. Magandang preparation na din po ito sa World Mind Games sa Beijing," said the 1998 World Rapid Under-14 Champion Paragua, who will led RP team in first World Mind Sports Games in Beijing, China later this year.
