May I ask on the 'Open' Non-Master if it could be reviewed to include Kiddies (U16 & below) Masters as this group is growing, now aside
from FM Bersamina, there's FM-Elect Literatus, NM Mejia while Julius Gonzales earned YNM title from the PNG, and not sure
with HS Boys winner Balena...

As NCFP's thrust is to encourage having Young Masters actually. also knowing that these days HS players actually have the most
time with computers and focus/priority on chess, before other interests come in when they reach college. Plus it is part of our
barometer in keeping up with our ASEAN neighbors like Vietnam,Indonesia and even Singapore/Malaysia which have very active
and dynamic age group programs. It would be good if local organizers would also be aligned with this NCFP thrust.

Another option is to conduct Open tournaments, or < 2300 FIDE/NCFP rated. RIPACHEF has conducted such tournaments at the Luneta
recently with very good attendance, meaning there is also a market for that kind of classification.

I agree with your proposal, Sir Laminin... Young masters should be considered to play in 'Open' Non Master tournaments if we really want their chess careers to progress. This is to continuously hone their skills after gaining their master titles at a very young age. I am appealing to fellow organizers to encourage young masters, 16 years old and below, to play in their non-master tournaments if we are to challenge our Asian neighbors for chess supremacy. If we keep on excluding them in joining non-master tourneys, their skills will surely deteriorate. We all know that open tournaments are very rare nowadays. We will be implementing such exemptions in our planned tourney tentatively set on October 14, Sunday. Details will be published early this week or late next week here and at http://www.iqsportsinc.com . Let us once again support the 8th "Isulong Mo" Rapid Chess Tournament. Thank you...

Thanks to IQSports team for recognizing the situation and deciding for its events.

This would help make an 'early chess title accomplishment' an incentive for promising, talented young players, rather than deter them!

All the best in the Oct 14 event & succeeding activities!

siguro dapat baguhin yung category title na "Non Master" kung papayagan na palaruin yung mga young masters natin para di ma-confuse yung iba..

Sir Ztagzul,

Yun po bang Top School Prize sa 13 under section ay for Elementary students lang? Marami din kasing High School players that are born after Jan. 1, 1999. Thanks

Agree completely and whole hardheartedly. In fact, we should make efforts to institutionalize this wonderful suggestion from laminin.

I will write a letter to NCFP and ask them to make it a policy to allow all 16u and under masters to be able to join non-master tournaments that are NCFP sanctioned. Maganda na yung 16u age noh? Fair enough? Please give me other points or things I need to highlight in my letter.

This would hopefully permanently make it a definite PLUS to be a master at a young age and not be a "punishment" for them to be banned from non-master tournaments.

I agree to the idea that some young and promising titled players be allowed to join in your non-master division. Just make a cut-off in their respective NCFP standard rating. In this way, you can help our talented youth to continue their progress to become strong and competent chessplayer which they should be and not be stagnant one just because of their acquired title. I have trust in this group of organizers/arbiters that they can deliver and initiate this kind of format which others organizers could not make it happen.

Why not hold an open tournament where our National Masters can play?

One of the complaints I heard from our national masters is that, very few tournaments were held for them to participate, unlike non-master or kiddies tournament. I think, if this problem will be properly addressed, sooner or later we can catch up with China or India.

This is just my suggestion and opinion.

Let us support the efforts of the 'ORGANIZERS' of this tournament in Alphaland on Sept.30,2012 and express our ideas to the organizers personally. They may be open to 'OPTIONS'/ suggestion like those brought out here in this post. The way I saw it, at least the organizers seems trying hard to raise the level of competetion among kids and ladies. Some other time they may opt for an open tournament for young masters. Wag tayong masyadong mainip, at maaabutan din natin ang China,India at Vietnam. Magtulong-tulong na lang tayo na mapalakas ang mga naorganize na mga tournaments tulad ng sa Alphaland.

I support Royal King on his suggestion. I hope the organizers would try an OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT and NON MASTERS perhaps on a different month. Aside from the age group and 1900/1950 below..... It is supposedly the responsibility of NCFP to hold tournaments for us CHESS PLAYERS. We are lucky to have BASHAM and SICILIAN CHESS CLUB. TOGETHER WITH a venue like ALPHALAND SOUTHGATE.
The reasons why the tournaments were successful are the following:
1. Organizers are good.
2. The time is no longer a problem unlike on some tournaments which promises to start 11 am but in reality starts past 1 pm.
3. Location is VERY ACCESSIBLE, VERYGOOD.
4. Venue is EXCELLENT.
5. Many arbiters are present and approachable.

As of this day Sept.25,2012, the 13 under division of this tournament on SEPT.30,2012 @ Alphaland is expected to have the the most # of participants. It may exceed 100 and we are advising the players to register early before cut-off which limits to a max of 300 players only for the 3 groups. Many observers of this tournament are keen on watching the kids. With the kids active role in chess tournaments, many observers may come out to help in furthering the development of chess for them, and the women too. Our women chess players also needs to be develope further more to catch-up with China,India,Vietnam and Iran, which I may be the only one to admit that we lagged behind them in Asia. Of course i may be wrong, but i believe they (women chess players) still needs to be given a priority of support not only from the GOVERNMENT but by PRIVATE FIRMS and ORGANIZERS. MEANWHILE, before their SUPPORTs were dropped on the ' BOX', WOMEN should be encourage more to be active on tournaments whenever opportunity comes and available. That opportunity starts in Alphaland on Sept.30,2012. That tournament is intended for women, that is the 1900 & below division. Please encourage more women to participate and win! BE EARLY, REGISTRATION STARTS 8:30 A.M., FIRST COME FIRST SERVE! 300 players only!

Just going thru the round-by-round in chess-results.com eh even and exciting field yung sa 1900 & below ha.

Eventually 5 players finished with 6/7 with unrated Highschooler (as indicated in chess-results.com) Rowel Roque emerging on TOP !

Maybe this Division can be retained in future editions...

Paging Alex Dinoy,

Meron kaming simul this Oct 6 Sat sa Meralco. FM Pau Bersamina will hold a simul. We are sponsoring kids from public schools to play. And we are inviting the top 6 players from public schools in this 13-U Division to play for free. Start ng 9am sa canteen. Just bring your own chess set para sigurado makalaro. At pencil to record the game which will be posted sa fb ng Meralco Chess Club.

Please register here if you are in the top 6 and from public school so we can provide table for you. We now have a record 56 participants.

Greetings!
To whom it may concern...
"Suggestion lang po" baka pwede nyo po I-consider sa next "ISULONG MO" chess tournament (13 & under division), if ever meron po at least five (5) participating/registered players na 6 years old & below eh magkaroon po sana ng additional category winner say "Top 6yrs old & under"... I think with that kind of additional category winner (Top 6 & under) eh mas maraming parents ang maiinganyong pasalihin ang kanilang anak na 6 years old (&below) & I think the kid/s as well eh mas gaganahan/gagalingan maglaro ng chess at the very young age knowing na may chance sila magka-medal (category winner) na galing talaga ang award sa organizer :)
Go Philippine Chess!
