Open Kitchen chess: Jan Jodilyn Fronda to play in Lomibao-Beltran Woman's Open Fide rating chess championship
THREE-TIME UAAP “Best Player” awardee and former De La Salle University Taft-Manila top player Woman International Master Jan Jodilyn Fronda is set to compete in the Woman Fide Master (WFM) Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran Woman's Open chess championship, which begins on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Second floor Open Kitchen airconditioned food hall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan, Greenfields District in Mandaluyong City

Fronda, who emerged as the top Filipino performer in the 17th Asian Continental Chess Championships-2nd Manny Pacquiao Cup at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Makati last year, will be pitted against this year's Manila Southeast Asian Games demonstration sports of team problem solving category gold medallist Woman International Master (WIM) Catherine Pereña Secopito, Woman International Master Bernadette Galas, Woman Fide Masters Cherry Ann Mejia, Allaney Jia Doroy and Samantha Glo Revita, Woman National Masters Carmelita Abanes and Francois Marie Magpily.
“I’m excited to play again. I’m ready for the challenge,” said Fronda, the new national women’s chess champion winning last September 12 at the Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence (PACE) headquarters in Mindanao Ave., Project 6, Quezon City.
“This field is very competitive.” she added.

The event hosted by China Aurelio and Mimi Casas of Open Kitchen and backed up by Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran in close cooperation with Dr. Alfred Paez, Joel Pineda, Ryan Lopez Sauz and Byron Gabrentina Villar offers a top purse of P10,000 and a trophy plus brand new Michael Kors watch. Prizes up to top 20.
Other woodpushers vying in the Fide rating rapid tournament are Woman International Master Bernadette Galas, Woman Fide Masters Cherry Mejia, Allaney Jia Doroy and Samantha Glo Revita, Woman National Masters Carmelita Abanes and Francois Marie Magpily.
Bannering the non-master challenge are Enrica Villa, Alexis Anne Asena, Manilyn Cabungcag,Rinoa Mariel and Chessica Fiona Sadey, Brena Mae and Merlene Membrere, Shaira Mae, Shanaia Marie and Stella Theresa Aquino, Mariel Batulan-Romero, Jade Santos, Camille Pasiderio, Heart Padilla, Jade Santos,Jocelyn Tuibuen Berago, Arlyn Victorio, Kristine Mae and Yvy Shane Bolanos, Majah, Flores, Danielle Maegan Lopez, Precious Nicole Lasin, Mary Grace Layan, Joellyn Pineda, Maria Luz Morada, Alanice Nichole Miranda, Gemma Condes-Alcodia, Mary Israel Palero-Segarra, Tara Jade Aurelio-Dableo and Mary Grace Telebrico-Litao.
