GM Antonio to hold simul chess in Cavite on March 14

First Filipino World Chess Cup qualifier Grandmaster (GM) Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. will hold simultaneous chess exhibition on March 14, 2020 (Saturday) at the Donna Christine Academy in Dalahican, Cavite.
Antonio, the 13-time Philippine Open champion will play 25 boards simultaneous chess exhibition in the 1-day event organized by Cavite Pawnstorm Chess Club and supported by Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua, Cavite City Vice Mayor Denver Chua and Cavite Board Member Davey Chua.

Cavite Pawnstorm Chess Club was founded by a group of passionate chess players headed by Mr. Sonny Ilustre and Mr. Amelito Reyes to promote the game of chess to the grass roots-level.

"This will be a great opportunity for Caviteño, even young players, to play with GM Antonio," said Mr. Amelito Reyes. "This event is for a good cause. Let’s join hands for this,” added Reyes.

A simultaneous Non-Master 2200 and below rapid chess tournament at the same time and will use a seven-round Swiss System with a 15-minute time control format.

The Non-Master 2200 and below rapid chess champion will win P2,000 while second, third, fourth and fifth placers get P1,000, P500, P300 and P100.
Special prizes worth P500 each for the category winners: top High School, top kiddies 12 year old and below, top senior 60 year old and above and top unrated.

Registration fee is P200.

Fide national arbiters Byron Villar and Israel Landicho of the Chess Arbiter Union of the Philippines (CAUP) will supervise the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) sanctioned tournament.
